Cut to much of a page? Fix it!

It happened several times to me that I measured something wrong, and I cut the paper in a smaller way that what I was supposed to! I didn't like to have to cut another paper, because I didn't want to waste paper.

So, I learned I could mend my mistake. What I would do is that I would grab what I had left of the cut paper, and I would paste it into the one that had turned out too small. I don't know if I'm explaining my self well, so I will draw it :P. Well, the thing is that when I had pasted the papers in the way they were supposed to be cut, I would paste something else in the top of them, so that you couldn't notice they were two papers, so as to see them as one.

This is an example of what I'm talking. I make the mistake of cutting this page a little smaller than what it was supposed to be, so I pasted another piece under it and then I covered it with a strip of light blue paper.

Embellishments

Well this is just a little post to talk about some of the embellishments I used and liked. For example, some times I would paste in my scrapbook page a paper cut in a butterfly shape, and what I did with them was to fold the paper where the wings of the butterfly started, and it gave a really cool effect.

Another thing is that I really liked mounting tape! You can use it for little embellishments, for example you can cut two hearts, paste one into the other one with mounting tape and then past them together to your scrapbook page again with mounting tape.

Plan your page

sAnother important thing I discovered (well I guess many of you already know it, but I'm a newbie so everything is new for me) is that to plan your page before making it is something really useful. It happened to me some times that I had imagine a really cool page but when I started making it I forgot some details about it.

The next thing I did was to draw the pages I would imagine. It was so much easier then, because I could just take a look at the paper and follow it exactly as it was originally. The other thing that was really useful was to "try" the plan I had for the page. What I mean is that before pasting everything I would put everything on the page (as it was planed) but without pasting it, and so if it didn't looked as nice as I had imagine I would just move everything until I liked it.

There you can see how I tried my page plan. I first put the pictures (with out pasting them) to see if I like how they looked, then again with out pasting anything I put the papers and embellishment to see if I liked them too. Then you can see the final result of the page, when everything is pasted and finished.

Space is important!!!

Ok so know I'm gonna talk about scrapbooking :). I already talk of materials and how many and important they are. But another important thins about them is that you need a really big space for them!

I'll tell you my experience. At first, when I was doing my first scrapbook pages I would work on my room's desktop, which is really tiny; and had my notebook in it when I was working, so the space I had to work was like a joke. I had everything scattered in my little desktop, and many things would end up in the floor, some other ones in my bed, and I always had to make a mayor mess when I was looking for something that had disappeared in the jungle of my room.

One day I got really tired of that mess, and so I decided to go to work to the dinning room. It was so much nicer! I covered it with an old tablecloth, but you can use anything, just make sure that whatever you are it's gonna cover the desk completely.

Also, what was really useful to me was that I used the dinning room to work but I also had another table in which I left all my materials in a tidy way so that I would find them as quick as I needed them. I had one big desk to work an another one for the materials. It's really comfortable, pleas try it (and don't use the desktop of your room if is as tiny as mine!).

My scrapbook's materials

Hello again! As I told you before, I'm trying to do a scrapbook for my boyfriend, as we are going to have our one year anniversary soon (next Friday). I know it might sound like I have no time for doing it, but the thing is I've already done like half of it.

I want to show you the materials I have for doing it. They aren't like pro or something like that, actually I borrowed all most all of them from a friend, who also lend me her Big Sizzix Shot Machine (because as I told you in the post before, in here they are around $240 dollars , so I can't afford one - yeay!). Here you have a picture of the materials I have:

My friend lend me three punchers, some patterned paper, holographic paper and foam (Thank you Fran!!). Also, I cut some paper with the Sizzix Machine, and I kept the negatives. I bought some mounting tape, an adhesive, one-color papers and some other materials (but I don't know their names, because as I told you, my first language is Spanish, so if you know the names of them or if I named something wrong, please let me know!)

So those are my materials. Also I bought some yellow paper for the pages of my scrapbook (which was a big mistake, I'll explain you why later). Anyway, as you see they aren't like spectacular materials for scrapbooking, but I'm a beginner in this. You'll see that you can do many things just with that :).
